Children CircumisionRemoving the foreskin of the penis. This is usually performed on infants, but is occasionally performed on adolescents and adults, either for medical reasons, or after religious conversion. It is often conducted as a religious rite, since it is prescribed by both the Jewish and Muslim religions, although it is prevalent also as a social norm in different nations.
CricothyroidotomyA cricothyrotomy (also called cricothyroidotomy) is an incision made through the Skin and cricothyroid membrane to establish a patient Airway during certain life-threatening situations, such as airway obstruction by a foreign body, angioedema, or massive facial trauma. Cricothyrotomy is nearly always performed as a last resort in cases where other means of tracheal intubation are impossible or impractical. Compared with tracheotomy, cricothyrotomy is quicker and easier to perform, does not require manipulation of the cervical spine, and is associated with fewer complications. However, while cricothyrotomy may be life-saving in extreme circumstances, this technique is only intended to be a temporizing measure until a definitive airway can be established.[from Wikipedia]
OrganTransplantTaking an Organ from a live or dead donor for implantation in a recipient who has lost use of that corresponding organ due to disease or injury.
SeptoplastySeptoplasty or alternatively submucous septal resection and septal reconstruction, is a corrective surgical procedure done to straighten a deviated NasalSeptum – the nasal septum being the partition between the two NasalCavities. Ideally, the septum should run down the center of the nose. When it deviates into one of the cavities, it narrows that cavity and impedes airflow. Deviated nasal septum or 'crooked' internal nose can occur at childbirth or as the result of an injury or other trauma. If the wall that functions as a separator of both sides of the nose is tilted towards one side at a degree greater than 50%, it might cause difficulty breathing. Often the inferior turbinate on the opposite side enlarges, which is termed compensatory hypertrophy. Deviations of the septum can lead to nasal obstruction. Most surgeries are completed in 60 minutes or less, while the recovery time could be up to several weeks. Put simply, septoplasty is a surgery that helps repair the passageways in the nose making it easier to breathe. This surgery is usually performed on patients with a deviated septum, recurrent rhinitis, or ossinus issues. [from Wikipedia]
TerfenadineTerfenadine is an antihistamine formerly used for the treatment of allergic conditions. It was brought to market by Hoechst Marion Roussel (now Sanofi-Aventis) and was marketed under various brand names, including Seldane in the United States, Triludan in the United Kingdom, and Teldane in Australia. It was superseded by fexofenadine in the 1990s due to the risk of a particular type of disruption of the electrical rhythms of the heart (specifically cardiac arrhythmia caused by QT interval prolongation) and has been withdrawn from markets worldwide.[from Wikipedia]
