The LigurianLanguage is a GalloItalianLanguage of Italy. SIL code: LIJ. ISO 639-2: roa. Population: 1,853,578 (1976). Population total all countries: 1,856,680 or more. Region: Liguria, northern Italy, east and west of Genoa long the Riviera and mountain hinterland, St. Pietro and St. Antioch, islands off southwest coast of Sardinia, cities of Carloforte and Calasetta in Sardinia. Alternate names: LIGURU, LIGURE. Dialects: GENOESE (GENOAN, GENOVESE). Comments: Very different from Standard Italian. Speakers may all be adequately bilingual in Standard Italian. Not endangered.
