Sigma KEE - ChemicalProcess
processus chimique
|
A ChemicalProcess occurs whenever chemical compounds (CompoundSubstances) are formed or decomposed. For example, reactants disappear as chemical change occurs, and products appear as chemical change occurs. In a chemical change a chemical reaction takes place. Catalysts in a ChemicalProcess may speed up the reaction, but aren't themselves produced or consumed. Examples: rusting of iron and the decomposition of water, induced by an electric current, to gaseous hydrogen and gaseous oxygen.

Processes which involve altering an internal property of an Object, e.g. the shape of the Object, its coloring, its structure, etc. Processes that are not instances of this class include changes that only affect the relationship to other objects, e.g. changes in spatial or temporal location.

dcomposition chemical | The Class of ChemicalProcesses in which a CompoundSubstance breaks down into simpler products. | | synthse chimique | The Class of ChemicalProcesses in which a CompoundSubstance is formed from simpler reactants. | | Metabolism | Metabolism is the set of life-sustaining chemical reactions in organisms. The three main purposes of metabolism are: the conversion of the energy in food to energy available to run cellular processes; the conversion of food to building blocks for Proteins, lipids, nucleic acids, and some Carbohydrates; and the elimination of metabolic wastes. These Enzyme -catalyzed reactions allow organisms to grow and reproduce, maintain their structures, and respond to their environments.[from Wikipedia] |
