Epidemic
A period where an unusual number of people in a particular location have a particular DiseaseOrSyndrome that has an unusual severity. For example, a comparatively small group can form an epidemic of deadly Ebola, versus a much larger group that would have to form an epidemic of a relatively mild influenza.
