The SouthernNambikuaraLanguage is a NambiquaranLanguage of Brazil. SIL code: NAB. ISO 639-2: sai. Population: 900 (1988 SIL), including 150 Galera (1983 SIL). Region: Northwestern Mato Grosso, scattered along the Porto Velho-Cuiaba highway for about 300 km. 10 villages. Alternate names: NAMBIQUARA, NAMBIKWARA. Dialects: MANDUKA, KHITHAULHU, SERRA AZUL, HAHAINTESU, WASUSU, ALATESU, WAIKISU, GALERA. Comments: The Manduca are semi-integrated. The Nambikuara were reduced from 10,000 in the 1940s by measles. Manairisu is a subgroup. Grammar. SOV, tonal. Literacy rate in first language: 5% to 10%. Literacy rate in second language: 5% to 15%. Traditional religion, Christian.
