Region: Andaman Islands, Boratang Island, south coast of Middle Andaman Island, northeast coast of South Andaman Island. Alternate names: PUCIKWAR, PUCHIKWAR. Comments: Bilingualism in Hindi. Language shift to Hindi taking place. CIIL working to revive A-Pucikwar. Other languages in the Central Andamanese group are extinct. Great Andamanese is classified as a Scheduled Tribe in India, and Puchikwar is a subtribe. Dictionary. Grammar. Literacy rate in first language: Below 1%.
