The CandoshiShapraLanguage is a language of unknown classification from Peru. SIL code: CBU. ISO 639-2: sai. Population: 3,000 (1981 SIL). Region: Morona, Pastaza, Huitoyacu and Chapuli rivers. Alternate names: KANDOSHI, CANDOSHI, CANDOXI, MURATO. Dialects: CHAPARA (SHAPRA), KANDOASHI. Comments: May be distantly related to Arawakan, probably not Jivaroan. Bilingual level estimates for Spanish are 0 88.5%, 1 10%, 2 1%, 3 .5%, 4 0%, 5 0%. Strong preference for Candoshi. Dictionary. SOV. Literacy rate in first language: 10% to 30%.
