The LowerSorbianLanguage is a SorbianLanguage of Germany. SIL code: WEE. ISO 639-2: wen. Population: 14,000 or fewer speakers (1991 Elle) out of a larger ethnic group. Region: Niederlausitz (Dolna Luzica) in eastern Germany, Cottbus (Chosebuz) the main town. The ethnic group has over 60 towns and villages. Alternate names: NIEDERSORBISCH, BAS SORABE, WENDISH, LUSATIAN, LOWER LUSATIAN, DOLNOSERBSKI, DELNOSERBSKI. Comments: Almost exclusively older generation. Their own name for the language is 'Dolnoserbski'. High school, Sorbian language school. Newspapers. Bible 1796-1824.(extract from http://www.ethnologue.com/)
