Most villagers deny the existence of a creole, although they speak it. There is a creole continuum with Standard English. Agriculturalists: sugarcane. Also spoken in: Anguilla. (Language name: LEEWARD CARIBBEAN CREOLE ENGLISH.) Population: 7,000 in Anguilla (1998). Dialects: ANGUILLAN CREOLE ENGLISH. Comments: Reported to be close to the creoles of Antigua, St. Kitts, Nevis, Montserrat, and Barbuda (Holm 1989:450-1). Slightly intelligible with Jamaican and perhaps Bahamas creoles.
